About Us
We created the Beach Community Action Group because we believed that, as a community, we could do better to keep North Nantasket Beach enjoyable, clean of trash and debris, and safe for Hull residents and guests. We are a volunteer group and operate within the confines of the Wetlands Protection Act, the Endangered Species Act, and applicable rules and regulations. We also work in conjunction with Hull DPW and Conservation to accomplish this mission.
Since forming on July 31, 2025, we quickly organized and set up our website, social media, and backend technology infrastructure. We also engaged local businesses, publicized our first cleanup in the Hull Times, and encouraged the broader Hull community to participate.
Notably, we invested in a volunteer organizing platform to automate various functions, including signing up, completing liability waivers, assigning volunteers to specific areas of the beach, creating check-in lists, and sending reminders and other essential communications. As a result of this investment, the logistics and volunteer hours required to run a cleanup or event are drastically reduced, and we can now point this platform at any new project and quickly execute.
We held our first beach cleanup on September 20, 2025 - just 51 days after our initial meeting to discuss forming a new volunteer group. From this first cleanup, we truly believe the community of people serving as stewards of Hull’s most precious resource will only grow.
We are currently planning our 2026 activities and organizing a social gathering on March 26. We are planning our next cleanup for April, with more cleanups and education later in the year.
